The CHIA Vic biennial conference highlights new ideas in social housing, tackles the challenges in policy and delivery, and showcases leading practice in housing management.

Payment

The payment of registration fees is by credit card or bank deposit at the time of booking. From 1 March 2025, only payment made by credit card will be accepted.

A registration is considered complete when full payment is received by the Conference Organiser.

The Australian goods and services tax (GST) at 10% is applicable to all goods and services offered by the Conference. All registration fees listed include GST.

The Melbourne Cricket Ground is located on Brunton Avenue in Richmond, just to the east of Melbourne’s CBD.

The CHIA Vic conference will be held in the Olympic Stand which is on Level 2 of the MCG.

For those arriving on foot, please enter the MCG via Gate 3 and take the escalators or lifts 9/10/11 to Level 2 and follow the directional signage to the conference rooms.

For those arriving by taxi, the drop-off point is at Jolimont Street & Jolimont Terrace . From here you can walk to Gate 3.

Arriving By Taxi

The MCG is easily accessible by public transport, and we recommend this as the best option for getting to the venue.

Train

There are two train stations close to the MCG, Jolimont and Richmond.

  • Jolimont is north of the venue and can be accessed on the Hurstbridge or Epping train lines. From Jolimont it’s a 5-minute walk to the MCG through Yarra Park.
  • Richmond is on the south-eastern side of the MCG and can be accessed on the Lilydale, Belgrave, Alamein, Glen Waverley, Dandenong, Pakenham, Cranbourne, Frankston or Sandringham lines.  The walk from Richmond station is around 10 minutes.

Tram
Three tram routes provide access to the MCG.

  • No. 75 (City-Vermont South) travels along Flinders Street and connects with the eastern suburbs via Wellington Parade.
  • No. 48 (Docklands/City-North Balwyn) travels along Collins Street and connects with the eastern suburbs via Wellington Parade. Both these routes stop just outside the MCG.
  • No. 70 (Docklands/City-Wattle Park) travels along Flinders Street then detours via Melbourne Park and the tram stop is a short walk across the footbridge to the MCG.

Bus
Bus route 246 stops on Punt Road, close to the MCG.

This bus route runs between La Trobe University and Elsternwick Station.

By car

  • MCG underground parking

Enter the MCG carpark via Entrance A off Brunton Avenue. Park near lifts 9/10/11 (red lift wall), then ascend to Level 2 and follow the directional signage to the various function rooms.

  • Other parking in the area:

Eastern Plaza Car Park (at Melbourne & Olympic Parks which is next to the MCG). Take entrance D off Olympic Boulevard. We recommend pre-booking as drive-up spaces are subject to availability. $7.50 all-day parking (non-event days). Approximately a 10min walk across to Gate 3 at the MCG. https://prebook.mopt.vic.gov.au/en/

  • Taxi

Pickup and drop-off point for the MCG is at Jolimont Street & Jolimont Terrace. From here you can walk to Gate 3 and take the escalators or lifts 9/10/11 to Level 2.
