This course provides an overview of the community housing sector in Victoria and key features of community housing. This course provides foundational information about the Community Housing Sector in Victoria. This includes the policy and regulatory environments across both social and affordable housing.

  • Understand the purpose and role of social and community housing
  • Understand the size and structure of the Victorian community housing sector and sector activities
  • Identify how community housing is funded and regulated
  • Understand allocation processes for community housing and how affordable rents are set

Jess Pomeroy Jess Pomeroy
Jess is CHIA Vic’s Director of Policy and Advocacy. Jess has worked in housing policy and research for over 10 years, and previously worked at RMIT University and the Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute (AHURI). Her work at CHIA Vic involves translating and contributing to policy development across the wide range of issues facing the community housing sector; imagining and then managing projects; and actively engaging with members and other key stakeholders.
Skye Constantine Skye Constantine
Skye is an experienced practitioner in community housing, public housing, and homelessness services. They have almost 20 years’ experience spanning tenancy management, casework, street outreach, service design, and senior management roles. They are currently completing a PhD exploring the ways that lived/living experience knowledge might contribute to the end of homelessness in Australia.
