Rooming houses are a unique form of housing and managing them presents different challenges to managing other types of housing. This course will help you understand the different provisions for rooming houses in the Residential Tenancies Act, and responsibilities in managing accommodation that house residents in close quarters and shared facilities.

  • Understand the differences between rooming house residencies and residential tenancies – legally and practically
  • Recognise key features of rooming houses and managing rooming house arrangements
  • Use strategies for problem solving and addressing incidents and issues between residents
  • Apply human rights considerations in managing tenancy breaches in rooming houses
