Improving tenants’ access to the NDIS

CHIA Vic is offering subsidised training for community housing workers aimed at improving workers understanding of the NDIS and their ability to advise tenants about the NDIS and other support programs available to sustain their tenancies.

The first training course, on Thursday 21 Feb, will focus on questions of access and eligibility for the NDIS. It provides an overview of the NDIS with regard to the initial application alongside practice guidance and examples. The course will give housing workers the ability to assess whether their tenants would be eligible for an NDIS package, and an understanding of the types of supports that might be funded by the NDIS.

Participants will also discuss the role of the community housing worker in different contexts and get an overview of other support and service providers available to assist tenants in preparing an application for NDIS funding.
