Mental Health First Aid

Mental Health First Aid is the help provided to a person who is developing a mental health problem, or who is in a mental health crisis. Like physical first aid, mental health first aid is given until the person receives professional help or until the crisis resolves.

In this two day course you will learn the skills to recognise and respond to someone experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis within the scope of a Mental Health First Aider

• Mental Health First Aid training and its background
• Recognising mental health problems:
• depression
• anxiety
• psychosis
• substance misuse
• Recognising mental health crises:
• suicidal thoughts and behaviours
• non-suicidal self-injury
• panic attacks
• traumatic events
• severe psychotic states
• acute effects from alcohol or other drug misuse
• aggressive behaviours

Delivery
• Live training via the Zoom platform. The course runs for 12 hours over two consecutive days
