Building community and council support for social housing is a key element to successfully delivering the Big Housing Build, and CHIA Vic has developed a range of resources that members can use to undertake this work. Join us for the launch of a toolkit on building community support for affordable housing; hear from Rachel Hornsby about what you should include in community consultation and how to work with councils under the streamlined planning provisions; and get key insights into what is important to councils from Mike Collins.
The toolkit was developed with the support of the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation and contains a range of resources:
- Resources ready to distribute to councils and the community to help build their understanding and support for affordable housing, including a fact sheet on affordable housing and renter case studies
- Resources to help CHOs better understand how to build support for community housing, based on an analysis of council and resident objections in Victoria and NSW
- Templates to support engagement with councils and the community
