The theme of CHIA Vic’s 2018 bi-annual conference is the Brave New World of Community Housing.
With housing affordability issue taking centre stage around Australia, we’ll be hearing from local and international experts on the expanding role of community housing.
Our keynote speaker, Derek Ballantyne, is the new Chairperson of the Canadian organisation tasked with the implementation of that country’s innovative National Housing Strategy.
Mr Ballantyne will give an address on his experience innovating in the Canadian community housing sector, and the role for community housing organisations in Canada’s recently launched National Housing Strategy.
In April, Mr Ballantyne will take on the position of Chair of the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), which is Canada’s authority on housing, providing support for Canadians in housing need, and housing research and advice to Canadian governments, consumers and the housing industry.
Mr Ballantyne brings extensive experience in the development and management of housing, as well as the development of financial models for housing development and operations and innovative approaches to attract new sources of capital to housing.
Details of the conference schedule will be finalised shortly, with registrations to follow.
