Dja Dja Wurrung Clans Aboriginal Corporation (DJAARA) and Haven Home Safe (HHS) are working in partnership to develop DJAARA into a fully independent, self-determining, self-sustaining, registered Aboriginal Community Housing Provider.

The partnership aims to support and secure the future growth of DJAARA’s housing entity as determined by DJAARA; leveraging their own capital to provide a range of housing outcomes for the Djaara community.

Together our partnership is creating a staged model to develop, implement and deliver long-term housing solutions across the housing continuum. Guided by the needs of the Djaara community this aligns with DJAARA’s housing strategy.  Our partnership provides a commitment to facilitate a 2-way development plan that will see a cross-sharing of knowledge between organisations. It will see DJAARA build capacity and capability ready to manage all facets of a housing entity; whilst also providing HHS the opportunity to increase our learning and skills in delivering culturally safe, supportive, and successful tenancy for clients.

Our collective partnership expresses a deep commitment, to share information and to learn from and support each other, as we work to First Order Principles in supporting self-determination.  The work we are doing presents a model that goes beyond the needs of today and seeks to establish a pipeline of opportunities and outcomes for the Djaara community that is replicable across other First Nations communities in Victoria and across Australia.  It is highly collaborative, and one that is fueled by purpose and doing the right thing.
