It is important for all people working in the community housing sector to have a shared understanding of family violence and an ability to recognise and respond to tenancies which are affected by family violence.

Managers and staff need to understand the Family Violence Multi-Agency Risk Assessment and Management (MARAM) Framework and the obligations of community housing organisations as “prescribed organisations” under the MARAM framework and the Family Violence Protection Act 2008.

This half-day program aims to provide you with the skills and knowledge to:

• recognise family violence
• know what to do and how to engage with someone experiencing family violence
• understand the family violence MARAM framework
• understand the Child Information Sharing Scheme (CISS) and the Family Violence Information Sharing Scheme (FVISS)
• recognise when and how the CISS and FVISS are able to be used

This training is designed to be as interactive as possible, with a strong focus on practical skills. In addition, you will have the opportunity to hear from Emma Gierschick OAM, a victim survivor of family violence. Emma is very open about her experiences and will share her understanding of the ‘mindset’ of a victim survivor.
