This course provides an overview of the community housing sector in Victoria and key features of community housing. This course provides foundational information about the Community Housing Sector in Victoria. This includes the policy and regulatory environments across both social and affordable housing.

  • Understand the purpose and role of social and community housing
  • Understand the size and structure of the Victorian community housing sector and sector activities
  • Identify how community housing is funded and regulated
  • Understand allocation processes for community housing and how affordable rents are set

Skye is an experienced practitioner in community housing, public housing, and homelessness services. They have almost 20 years’ experience spanning tenancy management, casework, street outreach, service design, and senior management roles. They are currently completing a PhD exploring the ways that lived/living experience knowledge might contribute to the end of homelessness in Australia.
Terry Burke Terry Burke
Terry Burke is Emeritus Professor of Housing studies at Swinburne University. He is one of Australia’s most well-known academic researchers, has written extensively on housing issues and has served on many urban and housing advisory panels and committees for all levels of government.
