With the several State and Federal Government funding programs underway or about to commence, and the growing need for more social and affordable housing, an increasing number of Victorian councils are actively supporting the delivery of more social and affordable housing.

This course aims to help local council officers and Councillors better understand the community housing sector, and explain it to their local constituents.

The course will cover:

  • What is community housing and social housing more generally
  • How community housing works – its operating model and the various systems that govern and regulate it
  • Who lives in community housing
  • How local councils can partner with community housing organisations
  • Growth in the community housing sector – the Big Housing Build, project examples and other opportunities
  • Resources for councils – how CHIA Vic can help

The course is for:

  • Local government officers and Councillors seeking to understand community housing
