This half-day course provides an overview for new workers on their professional responsibilities as housing and tenancy workers in the community housing sector.

It is aimed at ALL new workers in the sector. It looks at:

  • Ethics and professional boundaries
  • Duty of care
  • Privacy and confidentiality
  • Occupational Health and Safety
  • Working with support services
  • Sustaining tenancies
  • Complaint-handling
  • Human Rights of tenants of community housing
  • Child safety standards
  • Playing our part in responding to family violence

 

Mark S

Mark Smoljo has worked in the community sector for 33 years, the last 29 years in community housing.  Following 4 years of generalist community development work, he worked as housing manager in various community housing organisations and local government for 18 years. Since 2010 he has been a project officer and tenancy/property expert for the Community Housing Industry Association Victoria (CHIA Vic) – the peak body representing community housing organisations in Victoria. He also conducts training and consultancy work for CHIA Vic and community housing organisations.
